Every day from 12:00-1:30, children can enjoy lunchtime fun and plenty of play with Elena and her assistant Joan.
Eat, Play, and Have Fun with Friends
Located in our bright and sunny day care room, the environment models a Montessori classroom with lots of organization and order.
Children can choose from a vast selection of educational and fun materials—games, puzzles, toys, books, and building materials. They can also participate in music, dancing, and arts and crafts, and enjoy extended outdoor play.
With a limit of 16 children, many reserve spaces in advance however drop-ins are welcome if space permits.
What should we pack for lunch?
All lunches must be peanut free and tree nut free. Elena suggests packing a protein, fruit, and a snack. The room also has a microwave that the children can use to heat food.
Elena has been at OCMS for over 17 years. She’s certified in early childhood education and previously worked in Children’s House, which enriched her understanding and appreciation of Montessori. “It’s been so special to be a part of this community—and so much fun teaching lifelong lessons in artistic ways.”
Joan DaSilva
From babysitting at the age of 11 to running a day care out of her home, Joan has always loved being around children. “Coming to work everyday and seeing all the smiling faces of all the children is so very rewarding.”
Old Colony Montessori School is the oldest Montessori institution south of Boston. Founded by a group of parents in 1963, OCMS was incorporated as a non-profit educational organization under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
