On Wednesday, June 7, 2017, OCMS Elementary students and their parents joined OCMS Organic Gardening teacher, Jon Belber of Holly Hill Farm, for a 5-course, organic, vegetarian meal at The Corner Stop Eatery in Cohasset, MA. Each family-style dish on the menu highlighted the organic ingredients grown and harvested in our very own OCMS organic gardens.
The OCMS Organic Gardening program, under the direction of Jon Belber and his team from Holly Hill Farm, is featured in the April edition of South Shore Living magazine. The editorial article highlights our commitment to providing students the opportunity to learn and grow "outside the books".
At Old Colony Montessori School, science and scientific experimentation are a integral part of the Elementary curriculum. As the traditional Montessori multi-age model so effortlessly allows, this then organically trickles down to the younger students as they are invited to join in on the wonder and awe of watching science come to life through the hands of children they admire, interact with, and observe on a regular basis.
Old Colony Montessori School has been the premier early-education provider on the south shore for over 50 years. A Montessori education sets the foundation for a child’s entire educational experience, promoting positive and well-rounded social, emotional and educational development.
