"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn." -Dr. Maria Montessori
An Introductory Montessori Program
OCMS is pleased to offer our community the opportunity to select a 2-day or 3-day introductory program with our “Springboard to Montessori” classroom options.
These programs are designed for our youngest students, ages 2 years, 9 months (2.9) to 3 years, 5 months (3.5).
Led by an AMI-certified Montessori Guide and an assistant, our “Springboard to Montessori” students are introduced to Montessori materials and subjects, inspiring growth and development during the first year at OCMS, and preparing each student for matriculation into a Children’s House classroom the following year.
Debra brings over 30 years of Montessori experience to her Springboard classroom. Over the past three decades, she’s remained passionate about the Montessori method because “it sets the foundation for life in every way.”
Prior to OCMS, Debra was the founder and teacher at St. John Montessori School in the Virgin Islands, the owner, director, and lead teacher at Island Montessori School in West Tisbury, MA, and head teacher at Vineyard Montessori School.
Old Colony Montessori School is the oldest Montessori institution south of Boston. Founded by a group of parents in 1963, OCMS was incorporated as a non-profit educational organization under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
